The Des Moines Y Camp is able to succeed with the generosity of alumni, volunteers, donors and the local community. The selfless giving of time, talents and treasure continue to support camp and put it in a position to serve as many as possible. If you wish to get involved with the Des Moines Y Camp, there are many ways to do so.
Volunteerism
Camp is always in need of volunteers to help provide a wonderful camper and customer experience. The opportunities are endless to get involved, whether that be through facility maintenance, housekeeping, construction, administration, marketing, assisting with camp programing or in your own way. All efforts and gifts are appreciated!
Looking for some ideas on how to get started? Here’s a list of popular projects:
- Mowing around camp
- Clearing trails of brush and obstacles
- Grooming camp horses
- Leaf removal
- Staining/painting
- Planting flowers, shrubs or trees
- Deep cleaning the dining hall
- Assisting construction projects
- Maintaining program equipment

Y Camp Volunteer Work Day
If you’re looking for a great opportunity to jump in, Y Camp hosts an annual Volunteer Work Day in May to help gear up for summer camp. Join us this year on May 18, 2022!
Annual Campaign
The Des Moines Y Camp is proud of its ability to make camp affordable for all, which is made possible by the generous support of our camp community. For one month each year, Y Camp leads its Annual Campaign by reaching out to hundreds of donors across the country who give in order to make camp a reality for schools, campers and groups. A team of volunteers give their time during that month to help raise the funds by telling the camp story. If you feel like you would like to be a part of this team, please contact us.
